Ideal Qualifications
The ideal successful candidate will:
- Possess a Master's degree, with an earned Doctorate preferred.
- Demonstrate success as an educational administrator in progressively responsible positions with five years of senior educational leadership.
- Meet the minimum qualifications for certification as an instructional administrator in the Wisconsin Technical College System (two years teaching experience and two years occupational experience other than education).
- Have the ability to work effectively with a Board of Trustees under the Carver Policy Governance model by establishing an effective relationship with strong accountability, and demonstrating leadership in continual improvement of the model.
- Provide innovative and creative leadership committed to academic excellence, student success, and high quality, accessible programs and services to effectively fulfill the college mission of delivering superior community college education.
- Foster highly engaged connections between the college and diverse constituencies by understanding and promoting the role of a community college in a rural environment.
- Utilize strategic planning and annual goal setting to implement institutional priorities, develop budgets, and make critical decisions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Possess a strong fiscal management background that understands public sector financing, demonstrates success with resource development, promotes collaboration that reduces duplication, and increases efficiency of operations.
- Understand current and future technology uses to facilitate both student learning and institutional effectiveness.
- Appreciate the college history and mission and have the ability to envision and implement positive change.
- Possess integrity, honesty, fairness, a sense of humor, a collaborative and approachable style, and believe in open communication.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement, understand implementation strategies within an educational environment, and be able to build an effective culture of continuous quality improvement and individual accountability.
- Build effective, innovative partnerships with a broad range of educational leadership from other Wisconsin Technical Colleges, the University of Wisconsin system, private colleges and universities, and K-12 schools.
- Possess a strong record of community involvement and partnership development.
- Serve as an articulate spokesperson for the College with strong advocacy skills, and a solid understanding of local, state and national legislative processes and issues.
- Understand the financial issues facing community colleges and obtain additional funding through political advocacy, grant acquisition and fund raising.
- Be a risk taker who is persistent and determined to develop new initiatives and strategies to lead the college forward to meet the educational needs of the area.
- Demonstrate skills to support the College's commitment to data driven decision making.
- Be committed to ensuring college experiences meet student needs and will promote student success through experience in enrollment management, recruitment and retention of students.
- Have experience with the collective bargaining process.
- Advocate for the economic development of the region and have a strong record of collaboration with local business and economic leaders to meet regional workforce training needs, prepare for emerging workforce development requirements, and provide for professional degree pursuit.
- Be experienced developing and sustaining strong academic programs that incorporate the principles of the learning college.
