This course will prepare experienced direct care workers to become peer mentors (preceptors) in long term care. Peer mentors are primarily responsible for creating a welcoming environment for new employees and helping them become comfortable with their new job responsibilities. In their supportive capacity, mentors complement the roles of supervisors and nursing leaders, and as a result, often help to improve employee retention. In this two-day, interactive and engaging workshop, participants will focus on the adult learning process and meeting the needs of "trainees" in their organizations as they build skills in leadership, communication, giving feedback, coaching, and performance management. Fee includes all workshop materials, breaks, and lunch. 47-510-44000
