Winter/Spring 2008 Welcome

We had a very good first semester, ending with a very well attended Holiday Party. Thanks to John and Dolores Coyle and their crew for all of their hard work in preparing for, setting up, and cleaning up after the party. Margaret Pieplow and Judy Nelson did their customary excellent jobs with the chorus, and our new play reading/acting group added a lot to the evening. Many of us don’t get to see and appreciate what all of them do to provide us with a good time, so be sure to thank them when next you see them.

January 10th is the kickoff for the next semester, and Jim Zietlow and his Curriculum Committee have put together a good schedule, so look it over and sign up quickly for the classes you want to attend. The discussions on current events and near great books will continue, and a number of outdoor programs (with activities geared to seniors) are planned. Ced Vig is back with his outdoor series, too.

If you want to stretch your mind a bit, read the descriptions about Great Decisions, Philosophy, Geology, and Civil Liberties and the Bill of Rights (with guest Judges and Attorneys as presenters). And get some information on nutrition, migraines, organic gardens, soups, bagels, and a little history and personal experiences during the war years.

Some classes have limited enrollment. If you sign up but find that you can’t make class, call the host. Please car-pool to classes whenever you can.

A few more thoughts: Solomon must have been so wise because he had all those wives telling him what to do. The trouble with cash flow is that the tide always seems to be going out. Do you remember using telephones and elevators with real live operators, and riding in a rumble seat?
