Memory and Mind Stimulation


Improve your mental fitness by engaging in memory and mind stimulation exercises. Several studies have found that participation in mentally stimulating activities is associated with a reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's and other dementias. There is also some evidence that general cognitive decline is less in those who engage in mentally stimulating activities, with level of activity directly correlated to cognitive performance and health. This course is designed to help residents and homeowners better understand the two most essential systems in a home; the water supply and septic system. Topics covered in this course include geology and soils of North Central Wisconsin and how they relate to water supplies and septic systems, the water cycle, where our water comes from, groundwater flow and quality, water analysis, well and water system construction, health standards for drinking water, water treatment, iron and manganese, iron and sulfur bacteria, septic system construction and maintenance, and government regulations. The instructor is a professional soil scientist and registered sanitarian, and spent 28 years as a groundwater and water supply specialist with the Department of Natural Resources. 42-806-40201
