Students are admitted into the Automotive Technician in the fall semester. Program students are required to earn a “C” or better in all core courses to progress on to the next semester program courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 (minimum is required for graduation.

Will this program lead to ASE Certification?
Yes, in that the skills you learn through the Automotive Technician training program will increase your potential for certification success.
Do I need any special tools or pieces of equipment?
No tools are needed for program entry. All equipment will be provided through the College.
What if I didn’t take any shop classes in high school?
Not a problem. No automotive repair experience is necessary. You will start from square one and progress from there.
Are there job opportunities for automotive technicians. What kind of pay can I expect to earn?
Statistics indicate that employment projections for automotive technicians for the period of 2004-2014 will increase at an average rate 10-20%. 2004 national employment statistics indicated an average wage of 15.69 per hour. This is comparable to Wisconsin wage data.
I’m a "hands on" learner, why do I have to take English and Math courses?
This is a 58 credit Technical Diploma level program. Graduation from this program will indicate that you demonstrated the ability to not only work on motor vehicles, but also communicate effectively in both written and verbal format. Statistics have shown that in today’s labor market, communication is one of the most important factors in obtaining and maintaining employment.
