This heartwarming love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 48th year, has been a favorite ever since its 1978 debut on Broadway and movie debut in 1981 with Katharine Hepburn and Henry and Jane Fonda. Written by Ernest Thompson at the age of 28, the play is a masterpiece of sensitivity that explores the themes of marriage, memory, misunderstanding and rapprochement across generations, and the nature of mortality itself. As the summer wanes and time grows precious, the play reveals poignant lessons about life, love and happiness.

More About Peter Ostrouchko
WXPR Concert Information
The famed fiddler and mandolinist Peter Ostroushko is a master at thrilling audiences with his Ukrainian-flavored jazz/folk tunes that speak to both spirit and tapping toe.
Growing up in the Ukrainian community of northeast Minneapolis, Ostroushko heard mandolin, balalaika and bandura tunes played by his father and family friends at get-togethers in their home and in church. It's the music that still echoes in Peter's memory and provides the basis for many of his compositions. One of the most accomplished instrumentalists and gifted composers of his generation, Ostroushko is a regular performer on Prairie Home Companion.
