My name is John Seefeld and I have been a professional counselor/educator for the past 26 years. Before my appointment to the Nicolet College counseling staff, I served as a Freshman Counselor at Miami University (Ohio), Assistant to the Director of Admissions at Western College, Teacher/Counselor at the Galloway School in Atlanta, Georgia, and Community Planner for the Milwaukee County Executive's Office for Economic Resource Development. In addition, I have earned my living as a gold and silversmith and was co-owner/director of North Star Outfitters - a whitewater rafting and backpacking company.

I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and my Bachelor of Arts Degree in History also from Miami U. I also attended Emery University in Atlanta, Georgia in pursuit of my professional teaching credential.

In addition to my counseling responsibilities, I have had the pleasure of presenting programs in the areas of team-building, leadership training, and professional development throughout the community. My most recent project was this summer when I had the opportunity to present a communications/team-building seminar for Wisconsin National Guard Family Services Program at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin.

My counseling experience has taught me that our educational development continues over our lifetime and that our life's journey is made richer by the classroom environment. All of us have special "gifts" and these unique qualities require nurturing in order to be recognized and appreciated. I believe that it is the role of the counselor to encourage and assist individuals in their quest to incorporate these "gifts" into a rewarding personal and professional life style.
